President Uhuru Kenyatta has assured Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga of his support in the upcoming Kibra by-election.

The president and his deputy, William Ruto, hosted Mariga at State House, Nairobi on Wednesday, September 18.

“The president wished Mariga, who was accompanied by Jubilee Party secretary general Raphael Tuju, success in the contest, and assured him of his full backing,” says a press statement released by PSCU on Wednesday.

Other leaders who were present at State House when President Kenyatta hosted Mariga include Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale, Jubilee Party chief whip Benjamin Washiali, among others.

Mariga will, on November 7, face off against ODM’s Imran Okoth, ANC’s Eliud Owallo, among 21 other contestants in the race for Kibra parliamentary seat.

The position was left vacant after Ken Okoth died on July 26.
